Christmas Shopping at the Twilight Markets
Coolum is famous for its local markets. At Christmas, the markets blossom into a wonderland scene of colour, scent and textures. What a delightful way to finish your Christmas shopping! Just a 10 minute walk from The Point Coolum Beach are the Twilight Markets at Tickle Park on David Low Way.
Each year, the park is the site of 65 booths featuring handmade clothing, jewellery, woodwork, children's toys and art work from local artists.
The markets also feature spices, locally grown fruits and vegetables, snow cones and scrumptious desserts. The event is sponsored by the Lioness Club of Coolum Beach. All proceeds go to the local community.
The Twilight Markets at Tickle Park are open every Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. from late November through mid-January. The first in 2019 is November 22.
Christmas in the Park
December 14 marks the annual Christmas in the Park festival at Coolum Beach. Held at Tickle Park, the event features carols by candlelight, a visit by Santa Claus, live bands, dancing and fireworks.
All you need is a bit of Christmas spirit to join in the singing and festivities with your friends and family. The event is sponsored by the Coolum Christian Family Church and supported by local businesses.
Christmas Lights on the Sunshine Coast
The Sunshine Coast lights up at night with colourful displays of Christmas lights and decorations. From Noosa Heads to Caloundra, you can enjoy the festivities and view the many homes that light up for the season.
One of the most spectacular has been the grand display at the Cotton Tree Caravan Park on Maroochy River. Last year, residents of the park collaborated to create an impressive display.
This years could be even better. You can walk through Coolum to enjoy the local lights or drive to nearby beaches to see them all. The best lights wins the Sunshine Coast Daily's annual competition for the best Christmas lights display.
The Sunshine Coast Council sponsors Christmas lights and decorations throughout the Sunshine Coast. Be there on December 1 when Coolum Beach lights its tree. Christmas trees are decorated in Nambour and Caloundra, and the Council decorates 20 living trees in the region.
Carolling at Coolum Beach
Carolling is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Besides the Christmas in the Park celebrations in Coolum, nearby villages also offer carolling and entertainment as part of the festivities. Peregian Springs, just 10 minutes from Coolum Beach, will host its annual Christmas festival on December 15.
Live entertainment and carolling are part of the fun. Noosa, Nambour, Glasshouse, Kings Beach and Cotton Tree are a few more locations with evening carols and entertainment planned for the days leading up to Christmas.
Coolum Beach is great place to join the annual Sunshine Coast Christmas festivities. Be sure to book your accommodations at The Point Coolum in plenty of time. Choose from terraced villas and a selection of one, two and three-bedroom self-contained villas and apartments overlooking the coast.
