TRAIL 1 -THE COOLUM LOCAL:
Start your day at Ma Boulange Cafe Patisserie in the heart of Coolum village before a quick swim in the ocean. Move on to Canteen a little further up the road and across from the beach for fresh, locally sourced produce with an eclectic fusion of dishes offering a unique dining experience; followed by a lazy afternoon or sunset on the Coolum Surf Club veranda overlooking the ocean.
For dinner, head across the road to Mr Mancino, a local family owned and operated Italian restaurant with a passion for great food. Coming from Italian heritage you will find traditional Italian food from the finest and freshest ingredients - just like Nonna made it!
TRAIL 2 -THE HINTERLAND:
Head up the Blackall Range to Montville for brunch at The Edge Restaurant in Main St where you’ll feel on top of the world. The restaurant’s deck is perched on the edge of the escarpment, with panoramic views towards the coast. Soak up the village charm as you browse shops and cafes housed in Tudor, Irish and English cottages (even with an old mill waterwheel), Swiss and Bavarian chalets and old Queenslander houses. The Flame Hill Vineyard Deck and Terrace Restaurant is ideal for a late lunch and ultimate paddock-to-plate experience. The 121ha estate boasts the vineyard that has produced award-winning wines, a market garden orchard, its own herd of beef cattle and the restaurant and cellar door/tasting room. The farm and garden produce grass-fed Angus beef and much of the herbs and vegetables used in the restaurant (the Charcuterie Board and Flame Hill Station Black Angus Beef Burger are highly recommended). A picnic of farm-cured meats, marinated vegetables and artisan breads – taken to one of the property’s many scenic nooks to enjoy the views of the Obi Obi Valley and Mount Coolum – also may be possible.
For dinner, chef-hatted restaurant The Long Apron in Spicers Clovelly Estate on Balmoral Rd is a must, offering the tastes of modern Europe in an understated and elegant dining room or garden terrace. With a reputation for innovation, the restaurant offers degustation or table d'hôte menus using only the freshest seasonal produce sourced from the property and surrounding area.
TRAIL 3 - NOOSA FOODIE:
Take your pick of Noosa award-winning restaurants, long-established favourites and establishments with views to die for that have become household names across the nation. But for a more laid-back foodie adventure … Head to the Noosa Farmers’ Market in Weyba Rd, Noosaville, if you’re lucky enough to be visiting on a Sunday, when breakfast comprises mouth-watering fresh local produce, artisan products and scrumptious treats. Otherwise, watch the passing parade on Hastings Street, Parisian-style, at chic bistro Aromas. For lunch, go on the water – literally – at Noosa Boathouse: three levels that capture breathtaking views of the Noosa River. Seasonal produce shines in a modern Australian menu under the guidance of head chef Shane Bailey. Stop by for sunset over Laguna Bay from the veranda at Noosa Heads Surf Club. Then, for a taste of food theatre and perhaps the most equisite dinner you’ll find in Noosa, try Wasabi in Quamby Pcace for tasty, fresh Japanese cuisine, most of which is grown at their Honeysuckle Hill Farm.
