What's the Weather Like at Coolum During Winter?

The weather along the Sunshine Coast is pleasant throughout all seasons. Temperatures drop in March from the hotter, humid, sunny summer months of December through February. However, winters in Coolum Beach don't really feel like winter.

The cooler nights during the winter months from May through September contrast with warm, sunshine-filled days. Average winter daytime temperatures are rarely below 20 degrees Celsius with the coldest month averaging 20. Average minimum temperatures in the middle of Winter are aroumnd 10 desgress celcius. 

But as soon as the sun comes up, the air warms up as well. Daytime temperatures can reach as high as 22 degrees celcius in August, tempered by refreshing sea breezes. Although it rains during the winter months, June through September experience the least rainfall.

Winter Surf at Coolum Beach

The Sunshine Coast is known for its surf and great beaches. During the winter, water activities are still a draw at Coolum Beach. Although temperatures dip slightly from summer highs, the warmth of the sun keeps surface sea waters warm even during the cooler months. Surfers, you'll only need a full length steamer for a few weeks of the year. 

Water temperatures can dip as low as 19.6 degrees C in winter, but the average year-round temperature is 24 degrees C.

Late winter is a great time to enjoy the beaches and surf at Coolum. The Coolum Surf School's surfing instructors help those of all levels of surfing experience, from beginner to advanced.

Instruction can be for an individual or for groups. The school also hires out boards and other equipment if traveling with your board is difficult.

Golf at Coolum Beach

The Mount Coolum Golf Club is a championship course featuring 18 holes with sand traps, water and natural vegetation. Situated at the base of Mount Coolum, this picturesque course welcomes guests, who can enjoy the scenery and the challenges of the course.

All levels of expertise are welcome. Beginners can book lessons with the golf pro and hire equipment for time on the greens. The facility also features a function room for parties, events and weddings.

The clubhouse sports a bar and bistro that serves lunch several days a week and dinner every Friday.

Other challenging courses are just a few minutes away. Twin Waters Golf Club, considered one of the best on the Sunshine Coast, is an 18-hole, par 72 course.

The resort also features tennis courts, practice greens and a bar and restaurant. Other nearby courses include Noosa Springs and Peregian Springs Golf Course.
