Christmas Festivities at Coolum Beach 2017

If you're wondering where to deck the halls this year for Christmas, Coolum Beach on Australia's Sunshine Coast has plenty to offer. From markets featuring hand-crafted goods made by local artists to carolling under the stars, you can join the festivities at Coolum Beach to celebrate the Christmas spirit.

You, your family and friends can enjoy the sunshine-filled days that the Sunshine Coast offers year-round as well as the special activities that make a Coolum Beach Christmas a memorable holiday.

Enjoy a Christmas Summer at The Point Coolum Beach

The Point Coolum Beach is a great place to stay while enjoying your Christmas holiday. The resort is conveniently located to the Coolum Bays, hiking trails, shopping and restaurants. The beautifully outfitted villas have private balconies that overlook 3rd Bay.

Watch the sun come up, take a dip in one of the two pools, stroll along the Coastal Pathway and enjoy the festivities in Coolum and nearby towns.

Guests can spend their days soaking up the sunshine and enjoying water activities and their nights participating in local traditions and festivities. The staff at The Point Coolum Beach can help you plan your stay and make sure you don't miss any of the celebrations. Here are a few to get you started.

Christmas Shopping at the Twilight Markets

Coolum is famous for its local markets. At Christmas, the markets blossom into a wonderland scene of colour, scent and textures. What a delightful way to finish your Christmas shopping! Just a 10 minute walk from The Point Coolum Beach are the Twilight Markets at Tickle Park on David Low Way.

Each year, the park is the site of 65 booths featuring handmade clothing, jewellery, woodwork, children's toys and art work from local artists.

The markets also feature spices, locally grown fruits and vegetables, snow cones and scrumptious desserts. The event is sponsored by the Lioness Club of Coolum Beach. All proceeds go to the local community.

The Twilight Markets at Tickle Park are open every Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. from late November through mid-January. The first in 2017 is November 24.

Christmas in the Park

December 16 marks the annual Christmas in the Park festival at Coolum Beach. Held at Tickle Park, the event features carols by candlelight, a visit by Santa Claus, live bands, dancing and fireworks.

All you need is a bit of Christmas spirit to join in the singing and festivities with your friends and family. The event is sponsored by the Coolum Christian Family Church and supported by local businesses.

Christmas Lights on the Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast lights up at night with colourful displays of Christmas lights and decorations. From Noosa Heads to Caloundra, you can enjoy the festivities and view the many homes that light up for the season.

One of the most spectacular has been the grand display at the Cotton Tree Caravan Park on Maroochy River. Last year, residents of the park collaborated to create an impressive display.

This years could be even better. You can walk through Coolum to enjoy the local lights or drive to nearby beaches to see them all. The best lights wins the Sunshine Coast Daily's annual competition for the best Christmas lights display.

The Sunshine Coast Council sponsors Christmas lights and decorations throughout the Sunshine Coast. Be there on December 1 when Coolum Beach lights its tree. Christmas trees are decorated in Nambour and Caloundra, and the Council decorates 20 living trees in the region.

Carolling at Coolum Beach

Carolling is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Besides the Christmas in the Park celebrations in Coolum, nearby villages also offer carolling and entertainment as part of the festivities. Peregian Springs, just 10 minutes from Coolum Beach, will host its annual Christmas festival on December 15.

Live entertainment and carolling are part of the fun. Noosa, Nambour, Glasshouse, Kings Beach and Cotton Tree are a few more locations with evening carols and entertainment planned for the days leading up to Christmas.

Coolum Beach is great place to join the annual Sunshine Coast Christmas festivities. Be sure to book your accommodations at The Point Coolum in plenty of time. Choose from terraced villas and a selection of one, two and three-bedroom self-contained villas and apartments overlooking the coast.
